If your game has already updated to runtime 1.6.342, then it is best just to wait till SKSE (and any relevant mods) has updated and not bother rolling back. However, with the latest bugfix update, there should shortly be a new update to SKSE to accommodate this latest update. So, you would need the version of SKSE listed for that runtime (what SKSE is calling the preliminary AE release). If you bought the game 2 weeks ago, then you probably had runtime 1.6.323, as that dates to November 22. Well, there is just one edition - SSE - but we can't stop people (even those as smart as the SKSE Team), from being wrong about it.
At the moment the AE won't help as the recent update won't work with it. Why is Skyrim so complex, so many different editions, different names of the same game lol. If you just want a ton of mods without doing much yourself, I'd recommendĭownload it, pick a modlist, follow the readme that will pop up step by step and enjoy a modded version of skyrim you'd usually spend a day on creating yourself, if you were experienced at modding. If you use the downgrader you must use the old SKSE. There's SE, which is the current one we are using, AE was just an update to SE, but it broke mods using SKSE. So, from what I gathered, I actually need to download SKSE that is labelled for Anniversary Edition, not Special Edition? So, since I couldn't get SKSE working, I downloaded that patcher from Nexus and it automatically downgraded to 1.5.97. When I bought and downloaded it, I instantly went for mods, but at that same day I couldn't find working SKSE, I guess game got updated like a day or two before I bought it? Or it was under Anniversary Edition, not Special Edition and I just haven't looked for it. Basically I bought Skyrim around two weeks ago, when I got diagnosed with Covid and couldn't go to work for all this time. When it comes to that patcher from Nexus, it's exactly what I used before.
